Scouting some new marks to fish

I got out this afternoon with the family and headed to South Shields for a walk along towards Souter Lighthouse.

I have never ventured south of the Tyne for some reason and I was curious as to what fishing marks I could find along that stretch of coastline.

Lots was the answer.......

I need to do some homework over the coming months but I think that several of the marks I have identified will be "visited" this year.  Most look like they would fish both in the winter for Cod and during the summer for Pollock and Wrasse perhaps.

As always I took plenty of great photos.  My favourite being the one looking north up the beach just as the Golden Hour started.  All photos are "as shot" and I have done nothing with them save some image stitching on the Panoramas.

Out For a Walk: Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle

After having a beautiful day of fishing on the Ledges at Dunstanburgh last week I decided to bring the family up this weekend to do the Craster to Embleton walk.

Despite my daughter not being up to the full walk we got as far as the Castle and enjoyed a good look around before walking back to Craster.  Since I had left the rods at home I had the Canon with me and made the most of it....

Out and About....Tynemouth Pier

We took advantage of some decent weather this afternoon and took the kids down to Tynemouth Pier for the first time.
Unfortunately I couldn't bring my rod along with me but I did bring the camera and managed to get some lovely photos.

Out for a Walk: Tynemouth

Even though the fishing is still quiet I try to not let that stop me getting out with the camera.
Weather lately in the UK has been horrendous.  Not as bad here in the NE as it has been down south but it has still been pretty miserable.
In contrast the weather today was lovely.  A bit breezy and a little chilly but sunny all day.  I was glad to get some spare time and so I headed down to the coast to snap a few pics.

I parked at Tynemouth just up from the Boating club and had a stroll down to the pier and around Castle Rocks into King Edwards Bay.
I left with some great shots and a soaking wet backside after sliding into a rock pool....oh well it was worth it.

All shots are "as captured" save for some minor contrast adjustments and Panorama stitching where necessary.

Out for a Splash!

I got out with my better half and the kids this afternoon for a splash on Tynemouth Beach.  Conditions weren't good enough for fishing so I decided to take my fathers Canon EOS 400D and snap off a few shots.

Fortunately by the time we arrived the sun had begun to fall in the sky and gave everything that lovely pre-sunset golden glow.  We found a few crabs and the kids got soaking wet....a good afternoon I'd say

Out for a walk: Hartley to St Mary's

I took my camera out this afternoon on a walk with the family.  We parked at Hartley and walked the path along to St Mary's.
I had not really seen this area in daylight at high water.  There looks to be several worthwhile marks to fish on this stretch of coastline.
